Religious Tourism in Amravati

If you want to enjoy the historical relics along with the serene natural beauty of dense forest, then Amravati district is the apt place to visit. The district has got many historical and cultural heritage which reflects in the forts and temples present. There are many temples scattered across the district, most with no recorded history of formation and with ancient scriptures painted or carved on the walls. The district due to its historical significance has been named as Amravati meaning, “the land of the immortals.”
Once in Amravati once must pay a visit at the Ambadevi Temple. Located at the heart of the city at Gandhi Square, this age old temple is the abode of the presiding Goddess of Amravati, Devi Amba. The temple structure is decorated with pictures from Puranas and ancient engravings, portraying the rich history of the place. People from all walks of life come here to pay homage to the Goddess. Another divine temple of the district is Satidham Temple, which is not far from the Ambadevi Temple and is dedicated to Rani Sati Dadiji.
Located at Rallies Plot, this temple is a relatively new one with idols of many Gods and Goddesses present. Tourists can visit the Sri Ekvira Temple, which dates back to the year 1660 AD. Goddess Ekvira is believed to be an incarnation of “Shakti” or supreme power. The temple structure resembles a Pagoda with the temple tip made of pure gold. This temple is only 108kms from Amravati Railway Station. Shri Bhakti Dham Temple is another heavenly temple of the district which is only 2.5kms from the Amravati Railway Station on Badnera road. Many devotees of Hanumanji and Ram visit this holy sanctum on pilgrimage.

Amravati has its own ISKCON temple at Rathi Nagar, where worshipers can witness grandly decorated idols of Lord Krishna and Rukmini Devi. Janmashtami celebrations are memorable over here with Bhogs and Fairs for everyone to attend.
The temple of Shri Sadguru Gajanan Maharaj is another place that should not be missed. The temple complex is marvellous with manicured garden and lawn surrounding the main temple. This temple is considered to be as sanctimonious as the Shirdi Saibaba Temple and is visited by devotees year round. Best way to reach this temple is to get down at the Shegaon station and take a short auto trip to the location.
